The UK’s Packaging Federation is looking for sector participation to help it compile an accurate, up-to-date snapshot of the key challenges facing the UK packaging industry.
It wants to hear from all those in the converting sector wishing to have a say in an update of the UK Competitiveness Study – Packaging In The Third Millennium.
Produced by PIRA for the DTI in 2002 with extensive Packaging Federation support, the study (the executive summary and main report are at: www.packagingfedn.co.uk), included a 14-point Action Plan, which will now feature in the latest “progress report”, alongside updated “key industry trends” on employment, turnover, trade balances, productivity and structural changes through consolidation and rationalisation.
The Federation also sees the “progress report” as a chance to update the 2004 “Captains of Industry” survey conducted by Landell Mills Consulting for the Total trade show and to encourage the whole sector to participate this time. It is planned to finalise the report for an All-Party Parliamentary Group meeting in mid-July, to which a senior DTI Minister has been invited.
Participation – comments should be received by June 30 – is via a simple questionnaire at the Federation’s website.
