Fast steam cooking for MAP foods

Mondi Packaging Flexibles has combined its NeoSteam pouch valve cooking technology with MAP multilayer film for refrigerated foods to offer the advantages of both innovations in one pack.

The NeoSteam system allows gentle microwave steam cooking, with a patented integrated valve ensuring products ranging from vegetables to ready meals can be quickly and easily cooked while retaining flavour, texture and vitamins. However the system was primarily developed for frozen foods, initially not possessing the special characteristics required for refrigerated ones.

Now Mondi has combined its high barrier MAP film with NeoSteam valve technology to offer a range of extended shelf life NeoSteam MAP pouches and trays for microwave steam cooking foods ranging form meats, seafood and fruit to vegetables and pasta. Cooking occurs under pressure, shortening preparation times and ensuring food stays moist, while puncturing the lid is no longer necessary.
