The powerful R&D network led by the three "White Rose" universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York has set up FaraPack Engineering with Sheffield University's Engineered Packaging Research Group to provide short-term project guidance and expertise to those looking to develop new packs that are functional, innovative and ergonomic.
Led by the Engineered Packaging Research Group's Dr Alaster Yoxall, it will be staffed by packaging engineers and mathematical modellers. Specialist services will include materials, component and friction testing, human strength measuring, image analysis, predictive modelling, virtual packaging prototypes, packaging damage and protection and lifecycle analyses, and environmental impact evaluation.
A launch event with hands-on, interactive demonstrations of four core research themes – engineered ergonomics, experimentation, computational methods and design strategies, (free to up to two Faraday Packaging members; with a £200 + VAT fee for non-members) is being held on November 10.
