Expansion in automation

4 March 2009

Sewtec Automation is to invest £0.5mn in the expansion and upgrading of its premises in Dewsbury, increasing its size by some 10,000 ft2 to provide a smoother flow of work through the factory, help increase response times and provide room for additional equipment to expand manufacturing capacity.

The plans also include increased office accommodation for the administration, control and electrical engineers, and design teams.

The investment is in response to continuing strong demand for Sewtec’s range of special purpose automated equipment for handling and packing of products in industries including food, tobacco and pharmaceutical.

“In tough economic times, it is all the more important for manufacturers to maximise production efficiencies and throughput,” comments managing director Bernard Meehan. “We are therefore continuing to see a lot of interest in our bespoke solutions from a wide variety of companies.

’’This investment will ensure that we are well placed to respond quickly to develop equipment and systems to meet specific customer requirements.”
