Expansion at Macpac

17 December 2003

Stockport based blister packaging manufacturer Macpac has completed its latest six-figure factory expansion. The company has invested in a new Hurco fully computerised and automated machining centre to complement its CAD based tooling facility.

It says the new machine will enable tooling to be made faster with finer tolerances of accuracy and at lower cost It will also facilitate highly complex and accurate 3D tooling "giving customer's greater flexibility for packaging design and manufacture".

Macpac has also installed an Illig 53D vacuum forming machine which features a print register system for the manufacture of pre-printed formings that are "ideally suited to the high quality display market", says Macpac.

The installation has been timed to coincide with the launch of a new range of stock blister shapes under the BlisterKing brand.

The contract packing division at Macpac has also been expanded to meet current and anticipated demand and to accommodate BlisterKing as it goes live around the New Year.
