Esterform acquires rival PET converter

9 September 2005

Worcestershire-based PET bottle converter Esterform has acquired UK rival Petplas Packaging in Leeds from Alcan Inc, in the process creating what they believe will be the UK's largest privately-owned PET preform and bottle manufacturer.

Employing 180, the combined business will operate on a dual site basis, with manufacturing plants in Leeds and Tenbury Wells, producing approximately 1.5bn preforms and bottles annually.

Esterform says the acquisition is "wholly in line" with its targeted growth strategy, and will ensure continued investment for its expanded customer base and "a scale of operation to meet the challenges of the fast-moving beverages market".

Commercial director Mark Tyne adds: "The two companies' activities and spread of UK customers geographically complement each other well. We will also be servicing customers in many other parts of Europe."
