Epson GP-C831 printer suitable for chemical labelling

5 March 2014

Epson’s new GP-C831 “industrial strength” inkjet label printer features a wide eight-inch format and an eight-pin tractor feeder, to ensure high accuracy even in demanding applications such as GHS large format drum and chemical labels.

According to the company, the GP-C831 boasts full colour printing at 720x720dpi, and has been designed to handle high-volume printing with fast print speeds of 16.5 pages/min (92mm/sec) on a wide variety of materials, including matte, gloss and synthetic.

The Epson DURABrite Ultra pigment ink used in the GP-C831 is said to make the new printer the ideal solution to packaging labels, because it firmly binds to media fibres to deliver “outstanding” stability and resistance to UV, water, chemicals, smudging and fading.

Epson describes the GP-C831 as costing “a fraction of the price” compared to competing colour thermal transfer and colour laser printers, with the ink cartridges featuring a high-capacity to reduce down-time.

According to the company, the GP-C831 printer is the first inkjet solution to be certified to BS5609 (Marine Immersion Label Testing Standard), to comply with the latest UN GHS (Globally Harmonized System) standards for chemical labelling.

In the UK, the GP-C831 Haz Chem colour label printer is available from distributor AM Labels.
