Embossing debut

15 June 2005

Aerosol producer Boxal has seen the first application of a new embossing technology that has taken two years to develop and which the company believes is a world first.

The See & Seal process allows aluminium aerosols' full body to be embossed for what Boxal claims is the first time ever. The patented technology enables 360 deg embossing to highlight logos, text, graphics or any other element. The first See & Seal variant to be launched, GRIP, combines embossing's tactile effects with sophisticated graphics and the special effects of matt or even glittered finishes.

The first user is MP3, a brand of French group Unhycos, which is using an embossed GRIP aerosol for a men's deodorant sold mainly in Eastern Europe and Africa.

The embossed cans are currently produced at Boxal's Beaurepaire plant near Lyon, but the company may look at establishing another production facility outside Europe to serve non-European markets.
