Emballage - destined for success

18 June 2008

Emballage, the world packaging exhibition, was launched in 1947. Now held biennially, the 38th edition will take place in Paris, France from 17-21 November. At a press conference on 11 June, the organisers revealed some facts about this year's event.

Altogether, over 100,000 visitors are expected to attend, of whom 40 per cent are from outside of France, representing 142 countries. At the last event, 93 per cent of visitors expressed satisfaction with their visit and contacts made with exhibitors.

It is anticipated that 2200 companies will attend, 53 per cent of which are from beyond France, and that the split between exhibitors of packages and containers/machines, equipment and related services will be 40/60. There will also be International Pavilions for Belgium, China, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Taiwan and Turkey, together with numerous National Pavilions representing packaging industries across France.

This year, there will be numerous new sections, representing the latest trends and concerns of the packaging world. These are the:

* BioMaterials Area - focusing on emerging solutions and key issues

* Trends Area - a concentrated roundup of ideas and innovations

* Pack Vision Symposium - considering new packaging trends

* Art and Packaging Exposition - examining the links and influences between art and packaging

* Plastic Eco Design Centre - combining information, training and industrial development.

Emballage is also initiating the concept of Gold Meetings, comprising targeted one-to-one business appointments, designed to bring together purchasers and solution providers, organised through the Emballage website.
