The company says that, consequently, the Topfass steel lidding system is much easier to use – paint and other rectangular cans can now be closed in one step by applying pressure to the lid's four corners and the container body.
Designed by Impress's Decorative and Protective Finishes division in Crosmières near Le Mans, and manufactured at the company's Roye plant, the lid is said to be leak-proof, while the flange-free design offers a larger printable surface for strong branding.
The first user is one of France's leading DIY retail chains, Leroy Merlin, which has introduced its new range of enVie! paints across the country in Topfass cans and will shortly launch the product in its outlets in Italy, Spain and Poland.
Impress is currently investigating the feasibility of adapting the lid for cylindrical containers.
