Easier opening for flowwraps

20 November 2006

The German Packaging Institute has given SigPack Systems' new Pull Pack system for easing opening of flowwrap packs its award for Best Sales Packaging.

It is based around a perforation made in the type of flowwrap pack normally used for items like biscuit bars which ensures tightness, yet facilitates opening with a simple tug at one end of the pack.

Sigpack claims the system allows for easier, better controlled opening than other devices developed to make tubular flowwraps easy to open, for instance those using tear tapes or zigzag cuts. The user simply holds the main part of the pack and pulls the shorter end off with the other hand. The pack then opens cleanly along a perforation hidden beneath a folded flap.
