Sustainability remains among the key criteria for the DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation. Announcing the call for entries for the 21st Awards, vice president, DuPont Packaging Carolann Haznedar said: “We are committed to supporting the journey toward sustainable packaging. With the continued special focus on innovation in sustainable packaging, the Awards programme helps define sustainability, bring visibility to the achievements that are being made and broadens understanding across the value chain.”
She said winners of the recently concluded 20th DuPont Awards demonstrated real progress toward improved sustainability, from Kraft’s redesigned salad dressing bottle which cut weight by nearly 20 per cent while improving transport efficiency, to Marks & Spencer’s renewably sourced, compostable confectionery package inserts.
Entries for the 21st DuPont Awards will be accepted until February 13, 2009. Packaging designers, converters, consumer and industrial packagers, and equipment manufacturers from around the world are encouraged to enter their new product packaging developments, which no longer require plastics materials as an essential component. Innovation factors such as enhanced performance, responsible sourcing, clean production and effective recovery will be considered in selecting the winners.
Entries need not include a DuPont product to be eligible.
