Dow raises emulsion polymer prices in North America

25 April 2008

Effective April 18, 2008, or as contracts permit, Dow Chemical has increased its prices for all hollow plastics pigment latex products by US$0.11/lb (dry), and for styrene acrylate and vinyl acrylate products by US $0.10/lb (dry), sold by Dow Emulsion Polymers to customers in the US and Canada serving the paper and paperboard industry.

According to Dow, the price increase is required to help offset the continued rising costs of hydrocarbons, freight and raw materials, such as benzene, styrene and butadiene used to manufacture products.

The Dow Emulsion products are used in coatings for fine papers, publication papers and coated paperboard packaging.
