Domino acquires US auto-ID and data capture company

21 June 2006

Domino Printing Sciences has announced the acquisition of Enterprise Information Systems (EIS), a leading US-headquartered automatic identification and data capture systems integrator, for US$2m (€1.56m) in cash and a maximum deferred payment of US$8.4m (€ 6.57m) payable based upon operating profits over a five year period from January 1, 2006.

The company, which specialises in RFID deployment and integrating printer and reader technology solutions to provide supply chain traceability, will be integrated into Domino’s Integrated Solutions Group. This new “strategic business unit” was established in February to service growing demand from companies requiring a complete integrated product and asset traceability system incorporating RFID alongside other coding technologies.

“This is a highly strategic investment for us and an important step in our ongoing process of establishing Domino as a first-class global player in systems integration of complete RFID track and trace solutions,” explains Simon King, director of Domino’s Integrated Solutions Group. “The impact of traceability technologies in key market sectors such as Europe is accelerating fast and the outstanding knowledge and expertise the EIS team brings is the perfect complement to Domino’s existing capabilities in designing and implementing total coding and marking solutions.

“Alongside its specialist skills, EIS business practice also includes excellent processes necessary for effective systems integration delivery. It is our intention to build upon this best practice to the benefit of Domino’s broader activities throughout the global market.”

Enterprise Information Systems will continue to trade under the EIS brand name as a Domino Company within the Integrated Solutions Group. Formed in 2003, the company is based in Texas and employs 15 staff.

Dwain Farley, EIS ceo, adds: “We are delighted to be part of such an established and global company, which will provide us with access to the potential of the European and Asian markets. I am confident our experience with our customer base in the consumer packaged goods and aerospace markets, coupled with Domino’s global presence, will enable us to forge out strengths and expertise to deliver the very best total track and trace solutions throughout the key sectors across the world.”
