Date set for major RFID event

10 February 2005

The 2nd annual UK EPCglobal Conference and Exhibition - a high level event examining RFID's growing supply chain adoption by top global brand owners, retailers and product manufacturers in sectors ranging from FMCG to pharmaceuticals - will be held in London on June 7th at the prestigious QEII Conference and Exhibition Centre in Westminster.

The event will be staged by the e.centre, UK provider of the EPCglobal network, in association with RFID Solutions, Europe's only dedicated RFID publication.

EPCglobal is the worldwide body responsible for implementing an RFID system based around Electronic Product Code [EPC] technology and at a time when many UK businesses are looking harder than ever at their supply chain efficiencies simply to remain competitive, it is hoped a senior government minister from the DTI will attend as a keynote speaker.

Published by Wilmington Media, RFID Solutions is a sister magazine to Packaging Today and Converting Today.

Following EPCglobal's recent approval of the royalty-free UHF Class 1, Generation 2 RFID candidate specification, a step which many believe eliminates one of the few remaining barriers to widespread adoption, the conference will focus heavily on the likely impact that ratification of both the EPC standard and the European frequency standard will have on the pace and breadth of adoption.

High level speakers from EPCglobal [including president and ceo Chris Adcock], leading retailers, brand owners and consultants, and acknowledged industry experts will discuss what these developments mean for existing and potential users.

Delegates will also be able to attend optional workshops examining, via case studies and personal experience, how RFID is being implemented in the real world in the packaging and manufacturing, retailing and warehousing and distribution spheres. Speakers will include heavyweights in each sector with substantial RFID expertise.

In addition to providing invaluable, up-to-the-minute information from some of the sector's most authoritative sources, the conference has been structured to provide a number of networking opportunities throughout the day, allowing the opportunity to discuss key issues and concerns with representatives of some of the world's top RFID pioneers.

Among the Key Sponsors already signed-up is the smart label printer/encoder specialist, Zebra Technologies.

Alongside the conference, an exhibition including hardware and software suppliers, supply chain specialists and consultants will enable delegates to fully evaluate the range of products and services available.

Those interested in attending as a delegate can email shennessy@wilmington.co.uk to receive further information.

A limited amount of exhibition space is also still available. For further information telephone 0208 269 7775.
