Dairy doubles on shrinkwrapping systems

14 December 2011

Yorkshire Packaging Systems recently installed a second shrink wrapping system at the Jersey Dairy on the island of Jersey, as part of a plan to cope with increasing demand.

The equipment supplied by YS was a fully automatic inline sleeve wrapper upgraded to a full dairy specification including stainless steel due to the wet working environment where mild steel would not have been sufficient. The shrink tunnel belt was also upgraded to incorporate side chains to prevent the belt from stretching over time, as with the more common, cheaper friction driven system.

David Parmiter, Jersey Dairy’s head of production, comments: “We have been more than

impressed with YPS equipment and the backup and service provided. It helped that YPS had such a clear understanding of our needs due to their long standing expertise in our industry and so specification through to installation and training was extremely smooth.'
