CSI launches Omni mini XP ‘best performing ever’ closure

24 April 2013

Closure Systems International (CSI) has launched the Omni mini XP – billed by the US-based company as “the newest, lightest and best-performing closure for carbonated soft drinks and sparkling beverages in the industry”.

Omni mini XP is an ultra lightweight, one-piece/linerless 28mm closure, compatible with the 1881 bottle finish.

Weighing less than 2 grams, Omni mini XP is said to deliver best-in-class capping application performance, CO2 retention, impact resistance, and raw material savings for brand owners producing sparkling beverages.

“Omni mini XP is absolutely the best performing linerless CSD closure that we’ve ever developed,” says John Grainda, CSI global marketing director.

“We’ve packed an incredible amount of innovation and advanced technology into this highly efficient design. Bottlers, brand owners, and consumers will no doubt appreciate the benefits of this closure.”

Despite its lightweight design, Omni mini XP passes extreme drop test protocols, keeping the package secure even when exposed to harsh distribution and retail display conditions. It is also said to meet or exceed all global bottler protocols “across the widest range of distribution conditions”.

Closure Sysytems International says the Omni mini XP is precision-engineered to enhance capping application performance, which results in “lower defect rates” and “higher productivity” for beverage bottlers, resulting in more efficient bottling and lower cost of operation.

“Customer testing has proven that this new closure reduces cocked caps, reduces variability across colours, and reduces sensitivity to bottling line speed changes,” the company says.

Made using fully recyclable polyethylene resin, Omni mini XP can be used across the full range of beverage packages, ranging from 250ml to 3-litre non-returnable PET bottles, and several closure knurl patterns (24, 24/120, 60, 120) are available.
