Germany’s plastics packaging producers are currently suffering a “real avalanche of costs”, according to the IK, the German Association for Plastics Packagings and Films. “After a more than average increase of personal, freight and energy costs during the past months, the prices for raw material are climbing again – by approximately 20 per cent,” it reports.
The plastics packaging producers fear more price increases in the near future because of existing delays in delivery and “force majeure”.
Up to 70 per cent of the association’s member companies anticipate rising prices for their products, together with a further downturn in their profits.
