Costs and speed improved

YPS has installed a wide inline Rochman sleeve wrapper into the newly expanded Perth-based factory of Shore Laminates.

Shore used to box each of its WetWall panels, which was slow and expensive. Shrink-wrapping has cut packaging costs and improved throughput by 300%.

The automatic inline sleeve wrapper and shrink tunnel measures 1,500mm wide. Since the largest board is over 3m in length, the outfeed conveyor had to be extended to allow the sealing process to be completed before the pack travelled into the shrink tunnel.

"In addition, the shrink tunnel has a much lower hood than is normal due to the low height of the product itself. This ensures a better shrink and a more efficient shrink tunnel compared to comparable systems with 0.5m-high aperture tunnels," says director Glyn Johnson.

"The infeed conveyor was also modified in order to allow this belt to act as an effective 'work bench' with the wrapping process then being initiated manually."
