Cool can for beer launch

17 August 2005

Labatt has launched what is claimed to be the world's first insulated beer can. The 473ml Labatt Blue Cold One can incorporates a DuPont Melinex Cool2Go polyester film wrap developed to keep the contents "colder than conventional cans for longer", and a specially designed shrink sleeve from American label converter Multi-Color, which the company says helps maximise the container's insulating properties.

Reverse printed rotogravure in eight colours, the sleeve was produced at Multi-Color's Scottsburg, Indiana plant using silver metallic inks and bold colours to reinforce the strong brand image and give a cool, refreshing feel.
