Convenient perforated APET food tray

17 August 2005

Denmark's Faerch Plast has worked closely with German customer Tillmann to develop a high clarity APET perforated compartmentalised tray ideal for the convenience food sector.

The first product packed in the tray was "mettswerge" – a German speciality spicy pork tatar – but Faerch Plast says the pack could just as easily be used for four different types of spread, jam, dried fruit or nuts.

The perforations simplify separating the four compartments, enabling the food in one, two, three or all four sections to be served to suit the user. Each "section" can also be separately sealed, ensuring the food in the remaining compartments is kept fresh as long as the seals remain unbroken.

The APET's clarity, together with a new curved style perforation, enhance pack aesthetics, while the plastic's high barrier properties make the tray especially suited to products requiring an extended shelf life.
