Contract could be "worth millions of bottles annually" for Riverside

14 April 2007

Riverside will supply its customer with two 500ml bottles - one for automotive shampoo and one - incorporating a trigger spray - for quick shine and tyre shine products. Both are sold under the Simoniz brand.

For many years Honeywell Holt Lloyd has multi-sourced its packaging and, by its own admission, “adopted an adversarial purchasing approach”. However European sourcing specialist Peter Easterby says this is now a “thing of the past”. “Our purchasing rationalisation exercise has ensured the function is now predominantly concentrated upon the formation of fruitful and sustainable relationships with suppliers, who for their part can be relied upon to act flexibly but deliver a consistently high quality product,” he explains. Easterby says this purchasing rationalisation will impact favourably not only on manufacturing operations but equally on Holt Lloyd's marketing function. He says: “More than 70% of consumers now base their buying decision on the point-of-sale materials, i.e. the packaging. The refreshed Holt Lloyd range will be both more visually attractive and more ergonomically useable.”

Riverside Plastics has supplied Honeywell since 2003, and currently manufactures bottles both for Redex fuel additive and “One Shot” ranges.

The latest, sleeved bottles will be extrusion blowmoulded in PVC. The snap-on flip-top closure for the shampoo bottle will be supplied by Seaquist and the trigger spray by Guala.

Riverside Plastics says its contract with Honeywell Holt Lloyd for car care product containers could see it produce millions of bottles per year Honeywell
