While the new venture will focus primarily on providing technical and practical help to companies wishing to design, engineer and manufacture RFID components, Confidex also plans to begin producing its own low-cost EPC Gen 2 compliant passive RFID tags by the year end. Lindström says that, based on "several years' experience and strong reel-to-reel competencies", Confidex has "a unique capability in the industry" to design and ramp up RFID manufacturing and converting operations, whether based on direct IC attachment, straps or inlays.

Located in Nokia, the original site of the global mobile telecommunications company, Confidex says it will also bring to the market application-customised tags. Alongside ceo Lindström other Confidex partners include Marko Hanhikorpi, Jarkko Miettinen and Lari Kytölä.
