SIG Combibloc’s Combidome ‘carton bottle’ has achieved its first listing in the German market, with the Naturella brand of not-from-concentrate juices.
Naturella brand owner riha WeserGold Getränke is now offering its premium juices in Orange, Pineapple and Grapfruit flavours in Combidome containers, with a larger range to follow.
Thomas Mertens, managing director materials management at riha WeserGold Getränke, says Combidome combines all the important criteria that ensure products are clearly differentiated from the competition.
“Packaged in this composite material, our juices are perfectly protected,” he says. “And economically, too, beverage cartons are a great choice.”
Combidome’s centrally placed, large-sized 28mm closure is integrated into the carton using a new sealing process.
Whereas normally the base is sealed and the carton is then filled and sealed across the top inside the SIG Combibloc filling machines, and the closure is affixed afterwards using an applicator, with Combidome the closure is first moulded onto the neck of the package – the ‘dome’ that gives combidome its name.
The carton is then moved upside down into the filling zone, where it is sterilised and filled, and at the end of the process the base is sealed.
