COCA-COLA EUROPEAN PARTNERS MAKES ITS MOVE INTO PLANT-BASED DRINKS WITH ADEZ

Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) is launching its first ever range of plant-based drinks with the introduction of AdeZ in GB.

Plant-based drinks - made with seeds such as almond, rice, and oats – are increasingly popular in GB with the emerging category growing by 10% in GB[1]. AdeZ is CCEP’s first foray into the sector and has been developed with the ambition to make plant-based drinks accessible and appealing, helping retailers tap into the growing health and wellness trend.

With no added sugar, AdeZ is a dairy free smoothie which contains seeds, fruit juices and vitamins. The three-strong range is available in 250ml single serve bottles, designed to be consumed on-the-go and representing a unique opportunity for retailers to build their on-the-go beverages and snacking offer in store.

AdeZ will launch at the end of March with three flavour variants; Amazing Almond Mango-Passionfruit; Mighty Oat Strawberry-Banana and Courageous Coconut Berry. The launch will provide a choice for those looking for more options for varied nutrition as part of a balanced diet.

The launch will be supported by a marketing campaign, including consumer advertising, digital and PR targeting millennials.

 

Amidst a growing trend for healthy snacking, AdeZ is part of CCEP’s evolution as a Total Beverage Company, offering consumers more choice, in more ways, to meet their needs and desires at any time of day and on different occasions.

 

Simon Harrison, Customer Marketing Director GB at Coca-Cola European Partners, said: “Consumers are increasingly conscious of their nutritional choices and lead busy lives – almost half are more likely to buy an item if they know the nutritional information[2]. We know they are also looking for more functional drinks that taste great, which is why the launch of AdeZ in GB will provide an opportunity for retailers to meet this consumer demand.

The AdeZ brand originates from Argentina where it has been popular since it launched in 1988. In Mexico, Brazil and Argentina, it is the most popular drink in its segment. Coca-Cola acquired the brand in March 2017.
