Classic "beer from the coast" in lightweight bottles

O-I says it has produced “a new benchmark in lightweight bottles”.

The new containers, for Suffolk brewer Adnams' distinctive authentic beers, are reportedly the first UK ale sector bottles produced using narrow neck press and blow technology.

At 299g, the 500ml amber glass bottles are “over 40g lighter than the previous best weight for ale bottles and over 100g lighter than most bottles in the category”.

Designed by Coookchick Design, the container retains the bullet-shaped profile readily associated with the Adnams brand and features sharp embossing of the brand “positioning”, “Beer from the Coast” around the foot. The sharply flared heel and body shape create an excellent size impression.

Following the move Adnams has reduced the amount of glass going into the waste stream by over 500 tonnes a year.
