Cheese manufacturer invests in thermal transfer coder

French cheese manufacturer Capribeur has recently invested in Allen Coding Systems’ 53LTi thermal transfer coder.

Five of the entry-level thermal transfer coding machines were sold to Capribeur via OEM, Alpma.

Technical Manager at Allen France, Daniel Gonon, explained: “Capribeur has been using our traditional hot foil coders since 1995 and has been very happy with them. When the time came to look at upgrading their coders, it was a natural choice to consider Allen’s thermal range.”

The 53LTi, which was originally developed for the food industry and users of hot foil coders, is said to provide many of the advanced features of more expensive thermal transfer units. These include 300 dpi print resolution; cassette ribbon loading; 600-metre ribbon capacity; 53mm x 30mm print area with print speeds up to 250mm per second.

Capribeur will use the coder to print the date, day of the month, a letter indicating the shift, plus the time onto cheese packaging.

The five machines have been integrated on to a packaging line incorporating a SAN 80 CIP cheese packaging machine, which operates at up to 60 packs per minute.
