Cereal relaunched in biodegradable packaging

18 September 2007

Supplied by Alcan, the material is a 2-ply laminate – a cellulose outer layer derived from GM-free wood pulp and an inner derived from GM-free cornstarch. Both materials are currently used for packaging, but Jordans says this is the first time they have been used in this type of application.

An application has been made for “fully compostable” certification and the company hopes to be able to use the DinCerto logo by the end of the year. The company’s boxed products use recycled cardboard and are recyclable.

Materials are supplied to Jordans and the products packed in-house.

The re-styled "retro" packs include a plastic pack that was three years in development
