Central Pharma continues expansion with Adpack buy

25 May 2007

Central Pharma which, in its fifteen months in business, has reportedly doubled turnover, was established on March 1 last year, when a consortium led by former Nampak divisional director Graham Clark completed bought out Nampak's MY Healthcare Contract Packing Division.

Speaking at the time, Clark alluded to an investment of around £3m, which has borne fruit in a new 40,000 ft2 facility which opened last December and gained MHRA and BRC approval in February. The site has 20 independent suites and, with the integration of the production and packaging equipment as part of the Adpack deal, now boasts an annual capacity of 100m blisters and 80m pots. Liquid and anaesthetic filling, strip packing, cartoning and flowwrapping facilities are all available on-site.

The entire Adpack team, including former owners Ivan and Elaine Tutin, will join Central, taking the headcount to over 100.

“There are real synergies between the Central and Adpack businesses,” says Clark. “We operate with similar and complementary technologies and our client profiles are well-matched, with a mix of ethical and generic pharmaceutical clients, as well as leading high street multiples and retailers.”
