Bulldog’s Original Moisturiser goes carbon neutral

Constantly challenging the male grooming category, Bulldog Skincare has now certified its hero product and bestseller, the Original Moisturiser, as a CarbonNeutral Product in the UK. In accordance with The CarbonNeutral Protocol, Bulldog has completely offset the carbon emissions that are produced during the production, packaging and distribution of all its original moisturisers sold in the UK.

To offset its carbon emissions, Bulldog has chosen to support the Acre Amazonian Rainforest Conservation project in Brazil. The Brazilian state of Acre is currently 90% forested, but if current rates of deforestation continue this could decline to 65% by 2030. To combat this destruction, the project is working with local communities to prevent deforestation and protect some of the world’s most biodiverse habitats.

As part of its carbon neutral project, Bulldog was required to carry out an assessment of its supply chain and manufacturing processes. In turn, this has allowed the company to better understand the impact its products have on the environment. With this better understanding, it can and will be taking further action to reduce its environmental footprint. Additionally, Bulldog will be taking steps to make more of its products CarbonNeutral and will be undertaking regular reviews to assess how its environmental impact is reducing.

Carrying out a full assessment also allowed Bulldog to evaluate some of its most recent sustainability moves. For example, in September 2017 Bulldog became the first men’s skincare brand in the world to switch from using a fossil fuel based plastic to a sugarcane derived plastic. This move alone has reduced the carbon emissions of every Original Moisturiser sold in the UK by 19 per cent and has resulted in a total saving of 64 tonnes CO2e – equivalent to driving 156,479 miles in an average passenger car or charging your smartphone over eight million times.
