BPI compostable deal

7 January 2003

Britain's largest film producer British Polythene Industries has chosen P2 biodegradable polymer from PVAXX to make cost-effective compostable bags and laundry bags.

The PVOH based material has been developed for production on unmodified blown film lines at a lower price than competing materials, claims PVAXX. P2 target applications are garden refuse sacks, heavy-duty sacks and stretch wrap.

It is approved for food contact for dry and non-fatty foods with grades suitable for film, injection moulding, thermoforming and blow moulding.
