Plastics and chemicals specialist Borealis will be introducing two new peelable compounds for transparent lidding film and ‘peel against itself’ applications, at the Plastpol show in Kielce, Poland at the end of May.
The Vienna-headquartered company says the new products – Borpeel WD955CF and Steripeel WE950CF – provide superior optics, high transparency and a broad processing window.
The innovations complete Borealis’ high performance portfolio of peelable solutions for lidding film on PP trays and peel against itself for standard peelable film, sterilisable applications, medical applications and anti-fogging films.
“It was a challenge to combine excellent transparency, sterilisability and easy-opening performance in one single product,” comments Thierry Chevrier, Borealis vice president business unit film & fibre.
“By means of our new Steripeel grade, we have successfully achieved this unique combination, in order to address the increasing market demand for convenience packaging.”
Borealis will also be exhibiting other packaging developments at the Plastpol show, including its BorPure moulding solutions for transparent consumer food packaging and PE caps, and Bormed polyolefins, which target the challenging requirements of primary pharmaceutical and diagnostic packaging.
With sales of €7.1 billion in 2011, customers in over 120 countries, and around 5,300 employees worldwide, Borealis is owned 64% by the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) of Abu Dhabi and 36% by OMV, the leading energy group in the European growth belt.
