Bolder beer branding

19 April 2004

A complete rebranding campaign by Wychwood, undertaken after research showed consumers felt its bottles needed stronger visual branding, has seen the brewer launch a lighter weight 500ml glass bottle for its Hobgoblin, Fiddlers Elbow and Circle Master beers.

Produced by United Glass, the bottle has an embossed outline of the Wychwood Brewery logo on its shoulder, replacing the Hobgoblin device, and a bigger label to help communicate the brand values.

"We worked directly with United Glass and are delighted with the result," says Stuart Hawthorn, brewing and brands director at Refresh, Wychwood's parent company. "We were extremely impressed with both the people and the technology and were able to agree the shape and bottle design in just one visit."
