Blast freeze innovation from Linpac

21 June 2006

A packaging material made from a blend of polymers suitable for products requiring blast freezing has been jointly developed by Linpac’s Vistapac and Rigid Product teams.

Already being used by a major UK frozen food manufacturer, LINfreeze can withstand temperatures as low as - 40 degs C. It was developed in-house after the Linpac teams experienced problems obtaining a material suitable for blast freezing from a third party supplier in the US.

Piyush Ladd, Linpac Plastics sales executive, says: LINfreeze offers all the original imported material’s benefits, but with the added advantages of secure supply and known costs. Most food trays shatter at freezer temperatures, but our blast tray, even when cooled to - 40 degs C, does not become brittle or shatter.”
