BioFlex Pack biodegradable laminate for dry products

3 April 2013

Flexible packaging provider Ampac’s product development group in Kirchberg, Switzerland has launched the BioFlex Pack by Ampac, a new biodegradable laminate for dry products.

Developed to service growing demand in European markets, the BioFlex Pack’s material composition is said to be fully biodegradable and compostable according to European regulation EN 13432 and US ASTM D6400.

“Meeting industrial compostable standards, 90% of the material will be composted approximately 70 days after disposal,” Ampac says.

The company describes the BioFlex Pack laminate as “unique” in that both the adhesive and inks used in the material are biodegradable, allowing customers to take full advantage of Ampac’s 10 colour flexographic capabilities.

Available as printed roll stock and as premade pouches, suggested applications for BioFlex Pack include dry cereal or grains, tea and coffee products, powders or tablets, and wholesome or natural products.

Featuring “little to no curing time”, Ampac says BioFlex Pack laminate material provides an optimised supply chain time reduction of “more than one week”.

Ampac is a diversified global packaging company with 14 manufacturing centres in North America, Europe and Asia.
