Innovia Films has launched a biodegradable, compostable film for fresh food applications, NatureFlex NVS, specifically developed to provide stability under chill conditions.
Already being used by Sainsbury's in the UK in line with its new packaging waste reduction strategy (Packaging Today - October 2006), NatureFlex NVS is a high gloss film offering enhanced transparency, inherent anti-static properties and semi-permeability to moisture, for good anti-mist benefits. Other key features include good gas and aroma barrier, enhanced printability and controlled slip properties for easier conversion.
NatureFlex films are cellulose-based, derived from renewable wood pulp and certified to meet both the European EN13432 and American ASTM D6400 standards for compostable packaging.
NatureFlex NVS is currently available in 23 and 30 micron thicknesses.
