• United Packaging has adopted the M. J. Maillis UK name and merged its operations, products, consumable and services into the M. J. Maillis UK portfolio. Managing director Peter Davies is to take responsibility for all Maillis and United Packaging operations. Former managing director of United Packaging John Gray is now the group regional director for the Maillis Group in Europe.

• SIG Combibloc has sold its UK-based fresh gable top business to Elopak. This move will enable the company to concentrate on the supply of aseptic paperboard solutions to the dairy, beverages and food industry. Elopak says that the new arrangement will enhance its market position in the Netherlands, Austria and UK.

• Two Peterborough packaging companies have got together in a bid to streamline their operations. They are Concept Packaging Systems and sister company Pick and Place Finishers. The new company will be known as Concept Finishing Services Ltd.
