Bev can project for Serbia

1 June 2004

Ball Packaging Europe chief executive officer and chairman Hanno Fiedler and Serbian prime minister Vojislav Kostunica have laid the foundation stone for what is claimed will be Serbia's first foreign investment project - a EUR50M beverage can plant being built in Belgrade's Zemun district.

The factory, with the capacity to produce around 650M aluminium beverage cans for beer and soft drinks annually, is expected to begin manufacture by next May.

Much of the output will be destined for export to countries including Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia.
