Glasgow-based Benchmark Packaging has enhanced its contract packing service by investing over £120,000 in a Sunpaq line installation at its Hillington headquarters.
Sunpaq combines the best of blister, skin and shrink packaging solutions to deliver high point-of-purchase impact and maximum shelf appeal. The cards are a PE coated board with a special grade of Surlyn film window adhered using a water soluble adhesive.
Russell Cohen, managing director of Benchmark, says: “It is a fantastic solution that ticks all the boxes in terms of display impact and recyclability (although the board and film window need to be separated in the UK), and has the potential for use across a huge number of different sectors. And while it’s done relatively well in the short time it’s been available in the UK, I truly believe we can take it forward so that it enjoys the widespread success it has in the USA.”
Sunpaq’s appeal is that products can be displayed with total visibility, both front and back. Furthermore, it has the versatility to be hung on pegboards or used as stand alone products, and is available in five different styles – carton insert, frame view, see-through, side-fold and stand-up. All five styles use the same tough, thin film product-cover, which protects products and enhances their appearance. Shaped cards can also be used with every style, while the potential exists for left-hand / right-hand complementing product placements that dramatically increase shelf density.
The Sunpaq line cycles at 10 cycles/min but the tooling can accommodate multiple items based on the size of the unit similar to blister pack operations.
