Bag-in-box flexibility and output

19 April 2005

Increased output and user flexibility are key benefits of two Rapak Autokap 1210E fully automatic bag-in-box filling machines recently installed at Britvic Soft Drinks' Leeds factory.

The high speeds have been achieved thanks to Rapak's innovative quick-change bag into box loaders, which reduce changeover downtime significantly and maximise efficiencies. The rotating 'back to back' load chutes with special 'quick connect' technology enable changing from 10- to 20-litre packs in under three minutes.

Each Autokap machine can fill 10-litre and 20-litre bags of post mix syrup at rates of 13 and 9 bags/min, respectively. Between them, the two fillers can produce over 4.5M units/year for Britvic.

Filler operation is controlled by Siemens colour touchscreens, which give engineers the flexibility to alter operational parameters during production. In addition, Rapak has linked the high-speed servo-driven fillers to Britvic's upgraded process control system for simplified operation and enhanced reliability.
