Automatic stretch hooding modules

Adpal, the sole UK integrator for the French manufactured range of specialised pallet shrink, pallet stretch and stretch hooding systems, has introduced a stretch hooding machine – the Cover-Pal 6000 – that is claimed to provide “strong storage constraints and a solution to handling very unstable loads and weatherproofing requirements”.

The Cover-Pal 6000 machine uses Thimon patented technology to create automatic stretch hooding modules. The new unit provides for reliable five-sided wrapping of pallet loads and is said to be ideal for wrapping products destined for warehouses, home centres, construction and freight yards.

The stretch hood system begins with a rugged welded frame, and supports a gusseted film unwind system, an advanced hood sizing module and a hood stretch and application system. Up to two film rolls can provide ability to hood multiple size pallet loads on the fly. Multiple infeed, wrap area and exit conveyors are available to meet the challenging applications.

The reel changeover is said to be simple, taking only a few minutes, thereby reducing film loss. The machine uses standard components, but can be modified to customer requirements. Its parallel hood creation and hood wrapping processes is claimed to improve cycle time while providing the newly heat-sealed plastic hood one full machine cycle to cool and cure before being stretched onto the pallet. “This ensures a higher level of film stretch capability than is typically found in other stretch hood machines,” the company adds. The mechanical hood opening system, using mechanical grips rather than vacuum plates, provides a positive pull on the film gussets “assuring the correct opening of all film hoods”.
