Australian bioplastics

16 September 2010

A manufacturer of naturally based products is using bioplastics packaging technology by fellow Australian company Cardia Bioplastics, for its Earth Choice laundry cleaning range and other personal care products.

Cardia Biohybri proprietary technology combines renewable thermoplastics with polyolefin material, to help reduce dependence on finite oil resources and the size of the carbon footprint.

“The combination of packaging performance, environmental profile and cost effectiveness made Cardia Biohybrid technology a natural choice for our packaging,” says Justin Dowel, Managing Director at Natures Organics - the first company in Australia to introduce 100% recycled PET bottles for household cleaning products, he adds.

Dr Frank Glatz, Cardia’s Managing Director, says: “We were able to fully apply our global expertise in laundry and body care packaging to the Natures Organics product packaging and fast tracked the project.”

Cardia produces materials for flexible films, injection moulding, blow moulding, foam, extrusion and coating applications. It has a network of distributors across Europe, the Americas and Asia.
