Ardagh Group has created a new debossing technique for aerosol cans at its Spanish metal packaging plant in Reus on the Costa Dorada.
The company developed the bespoke debossing technology to meet the requirements of authenticity and special qualities of two very different brands: Montana’s Hardcore paint for graffiti art, and the fragrance collection of internationally renowned fashion designer and brand owner Carolina Herrera.
“For the fragrance, the packaging solution needed to match the brand’s premium credentials and artistic concept, evoking the personality of New York city: modern, urban, charismatic, unique,” an Ardagh spokesperson said.
“Starting with a clean and straightforward-looking tinplate 3-piece aerosol can and an original design created by the Carolina Herrera design team of Antonio Puig, the engineering team of Ardagh Reus developed a high quality debossed feature applied on the can body to achieve an altogether elegant and distinctive look.”
The striking embossed feature is said to complement the subtle colours used in the brand’s decoration, while a transparent cap highlights the reflective dome and matching actuator.
The debossing feature was designed and developed specifically for this project and required the modification of the existing production lines.
In the case of the Montana Colors Hardcore paint range, the company wanted to refresh its leading graffiti art range. Montana Colors – one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of artistic paint sprays – wanted a new format to both combat counterfeiting problems it was experiencing, and to refresh the brand and create renewed interest in graffiti art.
Ardagh’s solution consists of two new eye-catching and sleek designs in a “highly attractive” debossed can, which highlights the range’s selection of 45 colours with high pressure, fast dry gloss finish.
