AR brings cartoon novelty to triangular multipack

Augmented reality (AR) technology, a triangular sixpack and an animated 3D animal character come together in a promotional campaign with help from Ball Packaging Europe for the German Edeka Hessenring grocery chain.

Edeka’s own brand Cool Cola-Orange is hitting the shelves in 33cl Sleek cans from Ball sold in a triangular sixpack from Smurfit Kappa Baden Packaging.

A sticker on the multipack draws attention to the Sprudeltier (fizzy beast) inside. Inside the pack are instructions on how to let out the 3D animated figure. The consumer is then able to pose with the apparently life-size beast in photos on a smartphone.
