Amcor launches Packpyrus for fresh foods

10 June 2013

Amcor Flexibles has launched Packpyrus, a thermoformable cellulose-based packaging solution for the fresh market.

Particularly suitable for pre-sliced products such as meat or cheese, thanks to its oxygen barrier properties, Packpyrus is available in three versions: Packpyrus Flexible for vacuum pack base webs; Packpyrus Semi-Rigid; and Packpyrus Rigid for modified atmosphere base webs.

“The Packpyrus Flexible and Rigid solutions set themselves apart from the traditional cPA 80/ PE 100 and APET/ PE-EVOH-PE 300/50 solutions by offering significant improvement in life cycle performance,” Switzerland-based Amcor Flexibles says.

“Thanks to their lightness, use of renewable fibres and optimised manufacturing processes they offer an impressive reduction in the cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of about 70% and 60%, respectively.”

In addition to its environmental advantages, Amcor Packpyrus can also give brands an enhanced on-shelf differentiation, thanks to its ‘Kraft paper’ natural look and feel.
