Amcor Flexibles has launched the Vodex Generation II barrier liner for bag-in box food applications.
According to the flexible packaging specialist, Amcor Vodex Generation II is “the ultimate” co-extruded packaging solution, offering a combination of moisture barrier, mineral oil barrier and breathability that meet the increasing focus on food protection, environmental awareness and cost effectiveness.
Accompanied by significant investment in new technologies at its extrusion facility for HDPE products in Cumbria, Amcor’s Vodex Generation II innovation is the outcome of five years of research to meet the demand for a successor to its original Vodex, which is already widely used by cereals and dry food producers in Western Europe.
Amcor Vodex Generation II is said to offer all the values of the original Amcor Vodex barrier solution, as well as improved features of superior moisture barrier for a longer shelf-life, improved easy-opening, better packaging machine performance and increased value for money through providing more opportunities to downgauge customer film requirements.
“We believe Amcor Vodex Generation II is the most complete and cost effective solution to today's marketplace needs,” says Amy Byrick, vice president Amcor Flexibles Europe & Americas, Food & Beverage.
“A barrier liner such as Amcor Vodex, directly next to the food, helps protect it from external sources of contaminant, which is a significant advantage over the use of virgin carton board alone.”
