14 March 2007

Rockwell Solutions has granted an exclusive licence to Amcor Flexibles to market Rockwell's sustainable peelable PLA film for the global fresh produce market.

The film will complement the growing range of “environmental films” the company already supplies under the NaturePlus umbrella, and, it says, further enhances its position as a leading supplier in this specialist, but burgeoning sector. Cornstarch-derived, it is being used in the Amcor P-Plus range of tailored permeability MAP films.'

The 40 micron material reportedly exhibits excellent peel characteristics to PLA, aPET, rPET, PVC and HIPS tray in ambient to chill conditions, thus providing the added convenience of easy opening. It will peal cleanly away from the base tray without sharding, can be used on existing lidding machines, and is formulated to include antimist properties.
