Amcor and Velcro form a tight bond

7 March 2012

A strategic partnership between Amcor Flexibles and Velcro Europe has brought a new, easy-open and re-seal system to the fresh and dairy flexible packaging market.

The new offering combines a choice of high quality films from Amcor, adapted to meet all fresh and dairy product requirements, in combination with the trademarked Velcro Press-Lok closure.

The companies say it is the “ideal solution for all types of cheese, milk powder, fresh ready meals, bread and fresh fruit and vegetables”.

The Velcro Press-Lok system is said to be consumer friendly due to the easy alignment of its two components, making it simple to open and re-seal.

Moreover, the system is still functional even if contaminated by food, because the hooks will still close, unlike existing closure systems in which the rail track would become obstructed.

An additional advantage is that customers have the unique opportunity to use the well established Velcro brand name on their packaging, communicating instantly to end-consumers how the closure works.

“Amcor and Velcro Europe are confident that this innovative, user-friendly solution brings important new benefits to our customers and we look forward in 2012 to delivering sales growth to the fresh and dairy market,” says Philippe Scherrer, marketing director fresh, dairy and capsules at Amcor Flexibles Europe & Americas.

With 69 plants in 23 countries, Amcor Flexibles Europe & Americas, a division of Amcor, is a market leader and the world’s largest supplier of flexible packaging, delivering innovative packaging solutions enhanced quality products for the food, beverage, pharma, personal care, medical and industrial markets.
