Alu bottle for coke

16 January 2006

This month sees the launch in France of a carbonated Coca-Cola and coffee fusion, Coca-Cola Blak, in a distinctive "rich dark black and deep caramel-coloured" aluminium bottle based on the drinks producer's famous "signature shape" .

While Coca-Cola has sold products in aluminium packs "for several years (for instance its M5 beverage in Japan), this is one of the first times it has launched a new flavour in a metal bottle. Following Blak's introduction in France, the drinks giant plans launching it in other (unspecified) markets throughout the year, although it may be sold in other pack types in some countries.

The contoured 25cl bottle is produced at Exal's Boxal facility in Beaurepaire, France on special shaping equipment from Italy's Frattini.
