Altea aiming high

8 October 2008

Tunisian flexible packaging producer Altea Packaging has acquired 100 per cent of the shares of Optima, one of the five top flexible packaging companies in Morocco. The Casablanca based company has a 60-plus workforce has a set of converting machines including a 10-colour rotogravure press with the latest register control and fault-detection systems.

Altea also has a new greenfield project in Algeria, CogitelA, scheduled to start production at the end of 2008, and last year it acquired Roland Emballages, of France. To develop this access to the European market, it is transferring its established know-how for the Tunisian dairy market and investing in new products such as sterilisable Doypacks.

The company says it aims to become the flexible packaging market leader in the Middle East and North Africa region, and “a reliable outsider in Europe”.
